New Update: Instant Clip

Ever stuck in an intense battle where you want to upload a clip but not stop to edit it? Instant Clip is here for you. Now via the Forge app, all it takes is a simple press of [F8] during any moment of your game to immediately share your last 15 seconds of gameplay.

After you hit [F8], your clip will be instantly uploaded to Forge and you’ll be given a URL featuring your gameplay that you can share anywhere. It’s that simple!

Of course, if you want longer or shorter clips, or a little more precision, you can still always edit clips after your game session has ended, or by using the In-Game Clipper [F6]. But now you have an option for those too-good-to-wait, too-intense-to-stop moments of your games!

As always, you can view and set your hotkeys in the app Settings:

New update: Share clips directly to Facebook and Steam

We’re excited to introduce two new options for sharing your gaming clips! You can now share clips directly to Facebook or Steam chat from the Forge app.

Sharing to Facebook acts similarly to how you can currently share to Twitter from the Forge app. When you’re uploading a clip, you can select Facebook to connect your account and share a clip directly to your timeline, just like you would with a regular Facebook post.

You can also send your clip to any friend on Steam. Choose the “Select Friends on Steam” option and then choose any friends you want to share your clip with. From there, Forge will automatically send the link to a chat window with your friend on Steam.

If you’re experiencing any issues with these features, please email us at help@forge.gg. If you would like to leave suggestions on how we can improve Forge, please do so here: http://feedback.forge.gg/.

New Update: Screenshots!

Due to popular demand, we’re bringing screenshots back to Forge! You can now take screenshots of your gameplay by hitting F9 while using the Forge app.

When you hit F9, Forge will create a URL to your screenshot. You can then paste that URL into your web browser and either save the image to your computer or upload it to anywhere that allows you to upload images.

Please note that screenshots are currently in a testing phase and are nowhere near final. Because we are still working on screenshots, it isn’t currently possible to directly share them to Forge or social sites like Twitter, Facebook, or Reddit.

Even though screenshots are very simple at this time, we wanted to make sure there was at least some way for you to easily take stills of your gaming moments, so try them out and let us know your feedback!

Of course, you can always email us at help@forge.gg if you are experiencing any issues. If you would like to leave suggestions on how we can improve Forge, please do so here: http://feedback.forge.gg/.

New Update: Desktop Notifications come to App

Continuing with our addition of notifications across Forge, we recently launched two updates that add notifications to the Forge App for when anyone from the Forge community follows you or likes or comments on one of your Forge clips.

Along with the new desktop notifications, we’ve also included a fix that should improve the dependability of capturing gameplay.

Here arethe two ways you can now see notifications using the Forge App:

Desktop Tray Notifications: Whenever Forge is running, notifications will pop up on the lower-right corner of your desktop.

In-App Notifications: While you have the Forge App open, click on the bell icon to see recent activity.

To disable these notifications, you can do so by visiting your Settings page.

Email Notifications Are Here!

One feature that has been requested by the Forge community is the addition of email notifications, making it easy to keep track of who is liking and commenting on your videos as well as following you on Forge.

We recently added this feature, so if you get a new like, comment, or follower, you should see an email in your inbox of the address you used to sign up for Forge.

Of course, if you’re not interested in receiving email notifications, you can always turn them off on your settings page.

If you have trouble with your email notifications or have any other questions about Forge, please email us at help@forge.gg. If you would like to leave suggestions on how we can improve Forge, please do so here: http://feedback.forge.gg/.

Embed Your Forge Clips on Reddit, Medium, and More

We’re excited to announce that we’ve been added to Embedly’s list of providers, making it possible for you to embed Forge clips on posts on Reddit, Medium, and tons of other sites.

Simply use the link of your Forge clip (e.g., http://forge.gg/i/VmlkZW86ODc4NzQ4) when sharing the clip, and the video will be playable in the body of the post.

Or if you’re specifically looking to share to Reddit, you can click the Reddit icon on any Forge clip and share it from our site directly to Reddit.

If you have trouble getting this to work or have any other questions about Forge, please email us at help@forge.gg. If you would like to leave suggestions on how we can improve Forge, please do so here: http://feedback.forge.gg/.

New Update: More Twitter Sharing Options!

4b4b379f-04e8-4232-acbd-df4a80c6b16b

In a way to make it easier to share your gameplay on Twitter, we just released a new update that gives you three options to share to Twitter directly from the Forge app:

  • Twitter Card: A video is embedded in the Tweet that also includes a link to your clip on Forge as part of the Twitter Card.
  • Native Video: Like uploading a video directly to Twitter. A link to the clip on Forge will be in the Tweet text rather than as a Twitter Card.
  • GIFs: Creates a GIF of your clip and posts it to Twitter. Includes a link in the text of the Tweet.
